Unlike Ethiopia or Kenya, Uganda has not traditionally been a heavy hitter in specialty African coffee production, though many people may have had a chance to try a cup from the famed Sipi Falls.

So while we were on the hunt for an exciting, knockout washed coffee we were pleasantly surprised at how this Uganda Gibuzaale from the Mount Elgon region delivered in a big way. Named for the Gibuzaale washing station that serves over 900 farmers, the work they have done to elevate quality is apparent in the cup. Each day's lots are traceable to the individual farmer which is no easy task when harvest sizes can vary between 3-30 kg.

We were wooed by the layers of citrus, the tart flavors of pomegranate and green apple and grapes, the delicate floral aromas of honeysuckle, and with all of that a pleasant sweetness. The finish is creamy, velvety, and unfolding. We hope you'll love this coffee as much as we do.
